Community Involvement
Community involvement is a priority and John has spent countless hours leading and participating in various alumni activities at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors and is an enthusiastic supporter of the University. He is currently helping in the effort to get the 300 applications required to begin production of a UNCG license plate. To joint this effort, click the license plate for your application form.
In 2005, 2006, and 2007 John chaired the Fam Jam Planning Committee which coordinates UNCG's Black Alumni Reunion which is known as "Fam Jam". Fam Jam is part of UNCG's annual FallFest spectacular. John also co-chairs the committee responsible for developing the Pamela A. Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Each month he donates his time to the Attorney Hotline at the Women's Resource Center in Greensboro. He regularly participates in the annual Wade Edwards High School Mock Trial Competition, a statewide program for high school students which is organized by the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. John has donated several hours to the North Carolina Bar Association's Public Service Day in which he provided free legal information to dozens of phone callers in the Greater Greensboro area.
In his spare time John enjoys leisure activities such as quality time with family and friends, travel, exercise, golf, softball, good food, good music, and creating artwork. John is a huge sports fan and roots for the following teams: Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Rangers, Washington Nationals, UNC Tar Heels, New Bern Bears, and, last but definitely not least, the UNCG Spartans.
