All across the United States people have their phones disturbed with calls and texts from telemarketers and other persons/companies trying to sell goods and services. It seems these annoying calls come at the most inopportune times—when you are eating dinner, when you are trying to sleep, when you are in a meeting at work, etc. So what can you do?

  1. Check to see if your phone number is on the Do Not Call Registry. If it is not registered, register today. (this may be a requirement..)
  2. Save all voicemail messages and text messages (this is your evidence)
  3. Contact an attorney who handles these cases. I represent persons across North Carolina who have had their rights violated by telemarketers and even debt collectors. The Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Telemarketing Sales Rule, and North Carolina Telephone Solicitation Act are designed to protect your privacy and provide remedies when your privacy has been violated. Monetary damages can be quite high and can send a message to the company or person who was ringing your phone.

Do not try to handle the case yourself as there are numerous pitfalls and technicalities that could mean your “do it yourself” approach could fail even if you give your best efforts. I am here to help. Reach out to me so we can discuss your situation and assess your options.
